Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Welcome to the official website of the Hartford Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. On June 14th, 1947, thirteen visionary women came together to charter the Hartford Alumnae Chapter, and today our membership includes more than 100 professional women in the fields of Education, Government, Corporate America, and the nonprofit sector.

Since 1947, our chapter has been a driving force in the Greater Hartford area with a purpose to provide services and programs that enlighten, engage and educate our community on social issues that have a direct impact on the African American community. We continue to be dedicated to the mission and vision of the Sorority's Founders by contributing countless hours of public service and outreach programs that fulfill the key elements of our Five Point Programmatic Thrust:

  • Economic Development
  • Educational Development
  • Physical and Mental Health
  • Political Awareness and Involvement
  • International Awareness and Involvement

sisterhood

The sisterhood is a commitment to to strive together to achieve public service goals that are consistent with our basic values and beliefs. As we interact with one another we exhibit our Christian principles and our duties should be conducted with compassion toward each other. Our purpose is to enlighten, encourage, comfort, and “bear one another’s burdens, and most importantly of all LOVE.

service

The organizational thrust is indeed public service. We express our values in building community programs for the public good. These programs, however, are an outward manifestation of our inner values.
