Sold out and unforgettable! The 41st annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Breakfast, hosted by the Hartford Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., featured remarks from Dr. Roslyn Clark Artis, President at Benedict College, and greetings from Office of Governor Ned Lamont, Office of Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz, and Senator Richard Blumenthal. The program emphasized that justice is lived through education, mental health, civic participation, and community partnership.

This event supports scholarships for the next generation of leaders. If you didn’t join us for the breakfast, there’s still an opportunity to invest in tomorrow’s changemakers. Thank you to all who showed up and contributed to equity and empowerment.

Since the first Breakfast in 1985, it has grown to become one of the largest Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebrations in Connecticut. It serves as the premier fundraising event for the Hartford Alumnae Chapter’s Cheryl A. Hickmon Scholarship Award, renamed in 2023 to honor Cheryl A. Hickmon, the 27th National President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., native to Hartford, and member of the Hartford Alumnae Chapter.

With nearly $400,000 in renewable scholarships awarded to over 135 talented students, this event continues to create meaningful opportunities and positively impact the future of our community.
